Frank went on to be a teaching pro at White Manor Country Club in Malvern for several years and served as head coach for the Archbishop Carroll high school team after graduation.

Frank’s business career was grounded in commercial real estate development, education and technology. Highlights of which were serving as President of Archbishop Carroll High School and most recently CEO of a London based technology company, from which he retired in June of this year.

In Frank’s words, “I am truly excited to come full circle to a sport that introduced me to so many wonderful people and provided great enjoyment watching student’s grow in their skills and love for the game”.

Memorial

Michael Murphy

Mike started working as a DVTA instructor in 2023 and quickly proved to be a reliable and hard-working part of our team. He was a great motivator and cared deeply about his students on and off the court as evident by his voluntary 7-day work week. Mike was always willing to learn and better himself as a coach. He could often be found in the lounge in between lessons with his laptop and headphones taking online courses for tennis, fitness, or management. The little leisure time Mike allowed himself was filled with watching police shows and indulging in good food.

Mike’s twenty-plus year-long dedication to tennis started long before he joined DVTA. In 2009, he founded the Set Point Tennis Organization (SPTO) with the goal of fostering youth development through both tennis and life skills education. SPTO was integral in building the tennis program at Daniel Boone High School, and the organization collaborated with numerous institutions such as the Olivet Boys & Girls Club, ACEing Autism, Children’s Home of Reading, the Salvation Army, and the Police Athletic League. Notably, Mike was the proud recipient of the 2010 USTA/MS Junior Team Tennis Coordinator Award and was nominated for the National Junior Team Tennis Coordinator Award that same year. Though dearly departed, Mike’s legacy of philanthropy lives on through all those he has impacted. Mike will be missed by all of us at DVTA and in the tennis community.
